A Material Safety Data Sheet document and/or Transport Emergency Card always accompanies the shipment of furfuryl alcohol. Furfuryl alcohol is classified as a harmful chemical.
The odor threshold of furfuryl alcohol is 8 ppm (32 mg/m3). The build-up of substantial concentrations of furfuryl alcohol in
the atmosphere usually does not occur due to the relatively high boiling point (170ºC, 338ºF). The flammability of furfuryl alcohol is comparable to that of kerosine or No. 1 fuel oil. If ignited the fire can be extinguished with water, foam, carbon dioxide, or dry chemical. For details information on Health and Safety, please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Furfural should not be mixed with strong acids or alkalies nor stored near strong acids or alkalies nor stored near strong oxidising chemicals. For detailed information on health and safety please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
